What is the eighth generation TFT LCD?

2022-11-12

The production line generation of the eighth generation TFT LCD panel is determined according to the size of the glass substrate used to produce the LCD panel. The number of cut pieces of TFT-LCD glass substrate has an optimal economic value, which means higher production efficiency. The recognized number of cut pieces in the industry is 6.

According to the size of glass substrate, which generation does the production line belong to
The maximum substrate size of the 5th generation line is 1200X1300mm, which can cut up to six 27 inch wide screen LCD-TV substrates. Therefore, the upper limit of the 5th generation line is 27 inch wide screen TV.
The size of the 6th generation wire base plate is 1500X1800mm. Cutting 32 inch base plate can cut 8 pieces, and cutting 37 inch base plate can cut 6 pieces, so the upper limit of the 6th generation wire economic cutting is 37 inches.
The size of the base plate of the Generation 7 line is 1870X2200mm. The 42 inch base plate can be cut into 8 pieces, and the 46 inch base plate can be cut into 6 pieces. So the upper limit of the Generation 7 line is 46 inches.
The size of the base plate of the Generation 8 cable is 2160X2460mm. Up to eight 46 inch LCD-TV base plates can be cut, and six 52 inch LCD-TV base plates can be cut.
52 inch is the economical cutting size of the Generation 8 line. The higher the generation, the lower the cost of producing large size, and the more competitive. Of course, the higher the production generation, the higher the required process technology and control level. It can be said that the production line with higher generation represents the stronger the technical strength of the panel factory. However, the quality of the panel is not necessarily related to the production of the next generation of production lines.
